Debtmerica and the BBB

Debtmerica understands your concerns about our negative rating with the BBB, and thank you for giving us a change to respond to your inquiry.  The Better Business Bureau is a network of privately owned franchises.  Some of these franchises have decided to give all of the debt relief companies in their jurisdiction very negative ratings, regardless of the Company's track record.  This very unfair stance on the part of the BBB is well documented, as you will see in this article.

Debtmerica has enrolled over 20,000 clients, and only has a few complaints with the BBB. We are very proud to have such a low percentage of complaints. Unfortunately, every one of the 24 debt settlement and debt negotiation companies in our local BBB jurisdiction have been given very unfair and unfavorable ratings. The current principal of the BBB of the Southland is Bill Mitchell, who is a former board member of SpringBoard Credit Counseling, a competitor to our industry. Debtmerica questions the motives of Mr. Mitchell’s stance regarding our industry and the ratings given by our local BBB.

In December 2010, Bill Mitchell resigned following a news report that alleged the chapter would award paying BBB members better ratings than other companies.

Debtmerica is an accredited member of TASC (www.tascsite.org), an Association in our industry that only gives accreditation as a result of the Company undergoing a thorough audit process. We hope that you have a better understanding of what we believe to be an unfair opinion rendered upon both our firm and our industry by our local BBB branch.

Best regards,

The Debtmerica Relief Team
